Get better results in the gym! This is How to do a Dumbell Row properly

Hey Guys and Gals out there. Today I just wanted to drop off another video in my Back workout series for  This is one of the most common mistakes I see in the gym. People doing either too much or too little weight with improper mechanics to boot.  Body positioning during exercise, like all else in life , dictates how you deal with stresses.  Internal and external.  My goal when training myself or my clients for that matter is to "Always the choose the path of most resistance"! That means to do the most difficult versions of whatever it is that you are going to do because it results in more muscles being stressed. ...And that stress is what illicits that response from your body to adapt to survive and get stronger, lighter, faster period...

So I say that to say this, if your going to do it do it right! Look at all the exercises you do today or this week and decide how you can make them more difficult/challenging. Look at your form, notice what it is that you do to cheat. Are your rocking to get those biceps curls moving? using momentum? etc... Today your going to start paying attention and correct it. CHOOSE THE PATH OF MOST RESISTANCE! #GetMaxxResults

Fitness Q&A with Max Tapper -Workout of the week

Hey everybody out there! Happy Friday!Today we are going into the MaxxResults portion of The Max Tapper Blog because our focus today is on health and fitness.  A few days ago a good friend of mine sent me this email about switching up her workout regimen. I saw this as an excellent question and one many of you out there have. I figured why not answer this question for everyone, so below is my answer and focus of today's blog.


Hey! Question, been trying to switch up my work out regimen in order to keep my body guessing.Would like no more than a 4 day gym commitment.  any suggestions, thoughts, etc? Thanks buddy


Hey Jenn, I definitely have some suggestions but most of them are going to be based on your goals. I’ll assume, and correct me if i’m wrong, that your goals are to to feel and look better and be stronger. Well it’s your lucky day because I have just the thing for you. If you were in front of me I would ask you, “so what are you doing now”? That’s very important because it determines what variables we can change to expect continued success.   You know I’m a big proponent of full body workouts, circuits, and interval, mainly because they use so many joints and muscles at the same time resulting in greater calorie burn. Not to mention the constant muscular work required by these types of workouts result in bigger more balanced muscles period... That’s the only way I workout now and I personally train many of my clients this way. 

Here we go....
Choose 4 - 5 different compound exercises to be done in a curcuit. That’s it!
These exercises must move through multiple joints and all include some for of legs either as a prime mover or as a stabilizer.  For example instead of doing a bent over row on the bench where your weight is partly supported, your going to do the bent over row with your body squared up  to a bench or rack , this way the you have one arm as a contact point and two feet on the ground as your other arm rows. This has now become more of a full body movement. Basically pick the more difficult version of any exercise you do.

1. Push-ups: Lets start of with some push-ups, but not any plain ol’ pushups.  For these pushups we are going to put your feet on a towel and at the peak of every pushup you will do a knee tuck and draw your knees in toward your chest then back out to starting position for the next rep. 20 reps

2.Barbell hang clean and push press: In this exercise you will be holding the barbell at thigh height . you will initiate the movement of the clean by driving  your hip forward and simultaneously shrugging the weight up to catch it at shoulder height in a semi squated position. Continue into a full squat then you immediately press the barbell over head. Look at the pictures for proper form.

3. Dumbbell row.  Same as described in the example.  One hand on the back of a bench or rack for support.  Square your feet and row with the other arm.  Make sure to keep a flat back. It’s not uncommon to feel your abs burning during this exercise. They are working a lot!

4. Plyometric Jumps. (Frog jumps)  for these jumps you will find a space where you can travel about 20 jumps in distance. If there is no space you can stay in the same spot.  jump straight up or forward and every time you land you touch your hands to the floor and immediately jump you know.........a frog. :-)

5. Roll out on the exercise ball or free wheel. Stay on your knees with your hands together on top of the exercise ball.  Roll out on the ball until you are in an extended position . Follow the picture.  On the way back up push down into the ball with your hands to bring you body back to it upright starting position. 15-20 reps

Well there it is!  A full body circuit that will increase your strength, conditioning and endurance. Remember, the most important part of this workout is the constant movement! Rest only as long as you need to keep it moving and choose a weight that you can handle. This workout can also be tailored to your specific goal.  If your goal is to increase muscle mass, use heavier weights. If its conditioning and endurance, use moderate weights and increase the speed of the motion

This workout can be done every other day. On non lifting days just do cardio!

I guarantee your body will change working out in circuits.  I’ll put out another workout next week that will target the same muscles but with different exercises. This way ytou can have a alternate workout, to help fight off the monotony.

Timb's new look

Good morning friends, hope your feeling like a million bux today, because I'm back on one of my favorite topics.......yes, Shopping.  Yeah, I definitely got some chick in me man!  Maybe it's a bit strange, but I don't like to gamble because I'd rather buy a pair of shoes or a jacket, and I don't join the football pool at work because I'd rather by a t-shirt with that twenty.  ..and if we're talking a 20 during clearance time, I might even walk out with a T-shirt, skully and a pair of socks.  Yup I got it from my  Momma, professional shopper extraordinaire. 
Well anyway let's get to it. Remember back in the days we all had this love affair with yellow Timbs. Timberland boots, for those who don't know what I'm talking about. From now on I'll assume you do.  Well anyway, those same yellow timbs we rocked with pride are now a sign of true Cornbalism. Yes i'm sorry I wouldn't be caught dead in them any longer. The only originals I still own are the mac and cheese field boots,  but other than that no bueno.    So needless to say it's been years since I've given Timberland a fair look.  About 2 years back I bought a pair of Timberland boot company boots as a gift to myself and they quickly became my favorite shoe.  Timberland boot company brand was a whole nother' level of well designed, hand crafted shoes that were a throwback to the original boots workers used to wear back in the factories. No lie, people would stare at these boot  all up and down soho and union square.  I actually wore a whole in the sole and had to have Timberland replace them  for me. Only catch is the first ones were brown and the replacements were black.  They were limited edition so they only had one more pair of black 13's which I got. These are them. They're still still fresh to death, but the brown was just so much more universal in my daily color scheme.  Sounds crazy but I rarely wear the color black.  I haven't rocked a pair of black jeans since college, sans work.  Well That's that......lets keep it moving.

 So yesterday I was walking through the garden state mall a decided to stop in the timberland store to see what they had. And a few of they're new styles are legitimately on fire. I would definitely purchase. Heres a few snap shots of some of the kicks in there. The people in there probably think i'm a bit crazy taking pics of all the shoes and actually walking out with nothing lol.  I say that to say this.  No more yellow Timbs people! Nower days our clothes are more fitted and tailored and same goes for our footwear. If your going timbos, do one of these instead.  You'll look a lot more grown up. These first pic are the ones I was drooling over,  but alas, their biggest 13 didn't fit.  So Ill pass these winners on to you. So goes the Story of my life.  Enjoy your day, lata alligataz.

Working on a Beamer commercial today!

Hola people! What a soggy ass day!........and I stepped in a puddle almost ankle deep this morning on my travels. Awesome way to Set it off dont ya think lol.  Today I have the pleasure of working with one of my homies big Paul  aka @physique101 on this BMW commercial we're shooting out in Astoria Queens at the legendary Silver Cup studios. I just thought I'd share a couple pics from behind the scenes with you guys.  We're basically doing body part vignettes for this spot as basketball players and it should come out pretty soon.   I'll def keep you guys updated if it's worth checking out when it airs.   Ill be saying that's my hand! !!!!! Lol
And yes I know my 70's socks are hilarious! lets get it out now.  They were like your feet won't even't be seen lol.   Only in my pics....... :-)
