Hey party people! This past weekend I had the pleasure of attending the Bob Marley tribute at the Apollo Theater  with reggae Legends such as Third World, The Wailers, Maxi Priest, and son of the late great Bob Marley, Kimani Marley.  It was great show, but it all came to a climax when special guest Lauren hill came out on stage.  I caught about 15 minutes until my arm got tired... If you love lauren hill , you'll love this clip..

Power in Posture with Max Tapper

Good morning everybody out there! Spring is finally here and it's time for those tank tops and strapless dresses to come out the closet. If you've been working on getting in better shape during the winter months, that's awesome. ..And if you haven't, then you still have a lil time to put a dent in it. Lets start here..

As I look around on my daily strolls through the city, I see a lot of people with really poor posture Everybody knows they need to stand up straighter and keep their shoulders back, but most just neglect it until they walk in front of a mirror or until beach season is right in front of their face..  A nice back is something that many aspire to have, but poor posture and that hunched over look can ruin a beach back quickly, not to mention the strain on other muscles and wasted energy.   So Today, we are going to focus on a few exercises to improve posture.  These exercises and stretches will strengthen the weak muscles (rhomboids, traps, rear delts external rotators) and stretch the tight ones (chest, lats, internal rotators)  and help in restoring balance to you muscular system and posture.

Alright, lets get to it.  Watch the video and do these exercises and stretches every day to every other day, and witness your posture and shoulder strength improve. With that muscular change you will also find a huge change in your confidence and the way people respond to you.

Start now....

Let's do Abs with Max Tapper

What's happening everybody?  I Hope you guys had a exciting and active weekend..

Today were going to do do some abs.  Yup that's right, ABS!  Everybody is always asking me what's the best exercises to do to sculpt and chisel your core... well,  here are a few..... 3 to be exact.  You're going to do these exercises in a circuit with as little time as possible in between. Your doing just ten reps on each side of your body for the first two exercises. Then for the Mountain climber you will count 20 reps per knee. I just need you to do them 3 times and your done. Take about a 30 sec to a minute rest in between sets. The goal its to try to complete it fully without stopping.  Peace of cake......

Now that you have your orders.... Watch the video below....and get out there and do it...

I'll see you on the other side..

I also have another surprise for you,  I spoke to my contacts, worked some magic, and got my main man Carmelo Anthony of the New York Knicks to stop by and workout with us today. You can see how does in the video. Now if that's not motivation I don't know what is!

The Water Bottle Workout Series #3 with Max Tapper

What's happening errrbody.  I know we all got a quick lil preview of spring the other day when the temps got up into the 50's.  But today smacked us back down to earth with some good ol' February 30's.  instead of letting it get me down, what I took away from that experience is that summer is right around the corner. and It is officially time for those who have been slacking on the fitness tip to step ya game up. So, with that in mind, I am here to present to you the latest installment in the Water Bottle Workout Series. This episode is based around my 60 second fitness challenge so it's only one exercise that you do for 60 seconds.  Make sure you check out the video and take the challenge. I know you can do it....
Hit play and get back to me after.

The Watter Bottle Workout Series : Exercise Circuit #2 with Max Tapper

Hey everybody out there! What's happening? Can you believe this crazy weather we're getting? Well, as we prepare for the crazy snow to dump on us here in NYC, I felt it would again be a good time to drop a new exercise video. Seeing that you will probably be stuck in the house, you might want something productive to do. Today I am bringing to you the second installment in the Water Bottle Workout series. This one is a bit different from the last one because instead of one exercise, it is 4 exercises done in a circuit. This may be a little more advanced for some but I am sure everyone can do it with a little effort.

Check out the Video and do it!!!!

The Water Bottle Workout series with Max Tapper

Hey everybody out there. Hopefully you are braving the weather and still enjoying this snowy day. As yucky a day as it is outside, that also makes it a perfect day for me to put out the first video in my new Water Bottle Home Workout Series. What's a better to way to spend this snowy day, than getting your ass up off the chair, couch, or desk and shaking IT for a few minutes..
I've been getting a lot of email from people asking about the best ways to workout at home, and its usually due to a lack of finances or time.   I felt it was a shame for those two things to hold you back from getting in better shape and a topic many people would  benefit from so i decided to start the Water Bottle Workout series.
First off, let me say that this system is really catered to the beginner and fitness novice who is just starting to exercise, but it can also be catered to challenge the seasoned professional athlete.  The difficulty is all based on the intensity, and there are many variables that effect intensity such as speed, load, duration, and complexity of the movement.

Now back to the Water bottles! In this series you will plainly be using water bottles from your local supermarket or any other container that can safely hold water.  PLEASE MAKE SURE THAT THE WATER BOTTLES ARE NEW AND COMPLETELY SEALED!!  ...And don't let it go....It's not my fault if you let it go and the container breaks lol.  At least it's only water.

Anyway, these exercises are perfect for my 60 Second Fitness Challenge. Do this exercise for 60 second straight every hour. You may notice that even i began to breathe harder in just the few seconds while displaying the exercise. That's the point! to get your body moving and  get you heart and lungs working. As you get more conditioned you increase the intensity.  Either you do the movement faster, with a heavier water bottle, or just choose a more complicated exercise, and ultimately its a combination of all three.

Again, this is just the first exercise in the series and there will be many more to come. Stay tuned in!

The Kobe 9 Experience : Training with Tim Grover

Happy Monday party people! I hope you all had a great weekend and did something fun  and noteworthy.. ...
I  myself had the great fortune of getting an invite  from my home boy Stan Lumax over at Nike, to the launch of the L.A. Lakers Superstar Kobe Bryant's new Sneaker, The Kobe9. .........And me being the type of guy to jump at an oppurtunity like this, said "I'm there". Lets just say the whole night was pretty dope. We met at this secret location in midtown NYC to get an intimate first hand look at the new Kobe9 and some other FlyKnit running sneakers. The setup was really cool, with tons of beaming lights and good sounds, and these large angular installments with platforms holding the shoes. It was a really cool presentation.
After a little time with the shoes we took seats and got to hear Kobe Bryant being interviewed about his new sneaker, his training style and what he calls the "Mamba  Mentality". He attributed a lot of his longevity and success to his ever evolving  training regiment with world renown trainer Tim Grover, who I might add, was also Micheal Jordan's Trainer .  After taking a few questions from the audience,  he told us that he had a surprise for us. The surprise was that his trainer Tim Grover was going to come out and train a select few of us they way he trains Kobe to keep him at the top of his game. Nike had a few shuttles outside waiting to take us to a near Basketball court, but first we all got a chance to meet and speak with the designers and creative team behind the Kobe 9 shoe.  These guys and gals put a lot of work into the Kobe9 and we were gonna get to test drive them.
So we hop in the Shuttle and they take us to a charter school a few blocks away that is already setup for the Kobe9 experience.  We walk in and all have our names on lockers stuffed to the gills with goodies like sweat suits fuelbands, socks, shorts, backpack, and a pair of Kobe9's . How dope is that?...... yeah , I know.  Now we all get suited up and get a chance to be a part of an interview session with Tim Grover himself. He gave a lot of insight on the person and athlete that Kobe is and how he approaches training such an elite athlete.  One thing that he said which I found really important was, when working with such high caliber athletes, the room for improvement is so small, that you have to really pay attention to the small details to help them improve.
They now asked us if we had questions and or course my hand went up first.  I have had this question I have wanted to ask for a long time and he was the perfect person to help shed some light on the topic.  I wanted to know why so many of our current stars are going down with season and career ending injuries, when back in the 80's and 90's our start athletes never really got hurt. Even with all this technology we seem to be digressing.  Part of His answer was that in the past our athletes came up playing many different sports (cross training) , whereas now we usually pick one sport from youth and play that alone.  That lack of cross platform training creates more muscle imbalances and weaknesses in our current athletes.   He spoke about how MJ and Kobe both play many different sports to keep they're bodies in top shape and it showed in their ability to stay healthy for so long.
Now it was time to work out with Tim.  He split us up and ran us through a warm up, then bunch of different drills that focused on foot movement and being more efficient on defense. Then he upped the intensity and had us do a few variable speed drills and ended it off with a super intense bout of 30 burpees. We were all pretty much winded and I spotted a couple of cheaters but chose not to put em' on blast lol. We worked out for about 45 minutes, then it was time to play a lil ball.  Of course, my squad was stacked so we rolled through the tourney with no problem lol. I had my homie Chiggy Chad on the team with me so of course We got the Chip!! Finally the night was over.  We got to say good bye to Tim and snap a few pics before he hoped on a flight back to LA.
All in all it was a good night and I must admit .....The Kobe9's felt great!

You Know I brought my camera so check the flicks below.   Lata Alligataz.

Party Done.
Thanx NIKE!!!
